The sports floor as a basic part of a sport’s hall, besides its technical and functional characteristics must satisfy the specific requests of a variety of sporting activities to be held in this sports hall.  With its characteristics a quality sports floor is able to give the sportsmen great security and facilitates competition allowing for maximum focus on the desired result. Level sports floors with their modern technical solutions are an example of the fulfilment of the technical, functional and specific requests expected from that type of floor base.

WHAT IS A SPORTS FLOOR?

It is not easy to define a sports floor.
The easiest way is to point out that this floor needs to fulfil specific criteria as designated by regulations. Of course, it can also be   defined as a multi layer elastic flooring as each sports floor is made of several layers. Experts dealing with the sports floors claim that it must achieve at least two important targets:
     1) the protection of everyone having a professional
         and recrative sport activity
     2) allowing sportsmen the best possible conditions for their
training in order to achieve extraordinary results.

Wooden or parquet sports floors?
Although modern materials and technologies, during implementation natural material outweigh artificial ones meaning that wooden sports floors will be fitted with parquet.
Parquet sports floors can be divided into two categories:
  a)     hardwood parquet (classic parquet – nib and slot, up to a thickness of  22 mm)
  b)     finished parquet (multi-layer machine worked parquet)

Sports floors with finished multi-layer parquet
These are usually two, three and multi layer parquets. As the name suggests the parquet is made in several layers, with the final furnishing layer being factory varnished (4-7 layers depending on the type and quality of the varnish).
The advantages of this kind of sports floor are mostly present in the speed of laying the final elements of parquets of larger dimensions. Given that the final job of grinding and varnishing is not necessary, from a financial prospective, this is the most reasonable option.

Which parquet should be chosen for a sports floor?
The best choice is the two or three layer finished parquet (PAVONE or MORELLO) for many reasons, the first one being that the parquet is “stable” and in appropriate dimensions. This parquet is usually placed on a laminate level (i.e. OSB panels) the influence of heating is minimal and is not direct.  Due to drying, joints with floor heating are minimal. The most important thing is that renewing the surface layer does not influence the functional-technical characteristics of the flooring as well as the invariability of the sports floor itself.
